As our name suggests, we cover a desirable area of Southern England. We have considerable knowledge of the area along the South Downs Way which stretches from Winchester in the west to Eastbourne in the east. Our search area incorporates all of West Sussex and extends into Hampshire and Surrey.

West Sussex

This beautiful southern county epitomises everything quintessentially English, from its rolling countryside to its varied coastline, its stylish historic towns and quaint old villages. Its unique versatility and fast commute time to London makes ita highly desirable place to live.
The classic landscape of the South Downs countryside is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and stretches from one side of the county to the other. This 100 mile long distance pathway is popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders and provides panoramic views along its route.
In a survey conducted by Country Life magazine in November 2002, Midhurst was voted ‘the 2nd best place to live in Britain’ and is in the heart of the area covered by South Downs Home Search. This thriving, historic market town, full of character and charm, is an ideal place for peaceful living but with all modern amenities at hand. The magnificent Cowdray Ruins form a dramatic backdrop to the town and to the sport of polo which is played here regularly during the summer months. The Goodwood Estate, home of Glorious Goodwood and the internationally acclaimed Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival events, is 10 miles to the south and just a little further on is Chichester with itsbeautiful natural harbour.
The cathedral city of Chichester is quite unique. Although a city, it has the air of an old market town mixed with a cosmopolitan element of stylish restaurants, elegant boutiques and big name stores giving it a versatile appeal, a far cry from the hussle and bussle of typical city life. The city is home to the Chichester Festival Theatre and is a centre for the arts and culture. In July each year it plays host to the Chichester Festivities which attract many famous names. Nearby is the natural beauty of Chichester Harbour which is a haven for sailingenthusiasts, many taking advantage of the short crossing to the Isle of Wight and the more adventurous trip across to France.

On the western edge of the area covered by South Downs Home Search is the historic cathedral city of Winchester with its excellent road links to the south coast and to the West Country.
Home of the British Navy, Portsmouth is steeped in maritime history. Old Portsmouth has recently been revamped, making it a highly desirable place to live for those who wish for the city lights and the cosmopolitan life style Portsmouth now has to offer. With its superb waterfront location, Gunwharf Quays offers excellent shopping, leisure and entertainment facilities and is still undergoing extensive redevelopment with a wide selection of high quality waterside apartments.

The Surrey Hills are a unique Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with undulating hills, grassy downlands and dense woodlands and form the northern boundary of our area.
The popular towns of Haslemere, Farnham and Godalming offer the ideal location should you require the peace and tranquillity of country life but, with their excellent road and rail links, are justa short commute to Guildford and London and all the facilities they have to offer.
